I am so excited about this!
Sarah is a friend of mine in Portland that I met through music and radio. We’ve bonded over many things, one being our love of music, specifically punk. One night after we had just met we decided to hang out on her porch and have some drinks. We found we loved so many of the same bands. We were squeely girls tossing out bands at each other. The Vandals! Descendents! NOFX! Dropkick Murphys! Face to Face! Bad Religion! Misfits! On her little porch boombox we rocked out as we drank and I knew that I’d found a new, awesome Portland friend. She is truly an amazing woman and I’m thrilled to be co-hosting this show with her.
As you know, any opportunity I have to play you good music for the sake of playing good music, music that’s independent and not normally heard over the airwaves, I will take. DJs programming what they play is the best kind of radio, in my opinion.
I started a local music show here in Portland, Viva La Luna which will carry on with my producer Crystal taking the helm (she rules and the show will be in very good hands) as I head into The Punk Show with Sarah to rock your faces off!
It all starts February 1st at 7pm and will be each and every Sunday from 7pm-9pm.
Here’s the official press release:
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 20, 2009
Lisa and Sarah, both considered aficionados of the genre, will also delve into the best bands on the local and national punk scene, with interviews, info on upcoming concert tours, chances to win tickets and other details from inside the world on punk rock.
More information and a live stream of the show will be available at www.kufo.com. “There is an appetite for punk rock among the KUFO audience and this is the perfect way to feature a solid block of it every week,” commented KUFO Program Director Chris Patyk. “Both Sarah and Lisa are well-versed in the genre, they know the bands, they go to the shows and really love the music. It’s hard to ignore that sort of passion and not want to share it with everyone else. I’m really thrilled to add The Punk Show to our weekend line-up on KUFO.”

Finally, a reason to listen to KUFO other than the commercials and back-to-back Foo Fighters and I mean that in the nicest way possible. Your specialty shows (the 90’s buttrock and defunct Raw Power Lunch spring immediately to mind) are the shiznit.
Sounds like a cool show.
Yet ANOTHER reason why I long for Portland! A Punk Show! I’d be all over that! Even if it is just a brief recess from the generic “crap-rock,” as I like to call it, of mainstream radio; be glad KUFO and CBS allow specialty shows. I think Clear Channel would freeze over (get the Hell pun?) before allowing any content that strayed from the norm! Good thing there’s streaming!
