This video below is great, a cast of very funny people coming together to speak out about Prop 8.There’s a lot of misinformation and ignorance surrounding gay marriage. No, it’s not like a brother and sister marrying, that’s incest and is not even comparable. I can’t believe I’m even reading and hearing that. Incredible.

There is NO effect that a gay couple marrying will have on you. Zero. Nada. Zip.The 14th amendment states that all men are created EQUAL. There are no exceptions to that, there are no clauses to say that if something makes a certain sector uncomfortable that the amendment goes out the window. Additionally, people who go to the bible as their back-up are clearly forgetting that this country was founded on separation of church and state. This line seems to be getting more and more blurry and it’s frightening. Abortion rights, stem cell research, gay marriage. The opposition frequently points to the bible as their basis for wanting these things outlawed. This is a moot point, religion is to play NO part in the laws set forth by government. I would even go a step further and say that the government should have no say in some of these things, as they are very personal.

The bottom line…a person marrying a person they love, who they want to share their life with is no one’s business but theirs. Regardless of race or gender, it has no bearing on YOUR life. Nothing in your life is affected, nor will anything change in the grand scheme of things if Bob and Bob or Betty and Betty fall in love and want to celebrate that. Just as nothing changed in the 60s when it became legal for mixed races to marry. I’m pretty sure you’re doing fine regardless of the fact that a black man and a white woman that you don’t know and probably never will, have gotten married.

Worry about things that truly matter. Like poverty, homelessness, war, the people who STILL need help in the wake of Katrina, educating children and well, you get the picture.
